Lookin' Up, Lookin' Down
One thing I've recently come to realize is that some plants look best if you're looking DOWN on them, and some look better if you're at eye level with them. A low, compact succulent, for instance, will be much more appreciated if it's placed low to the ground so that when you see it you're getting an "aerial" view. A big, bushy plant, on the other hand, will probably be better appreciated if it's at eye level or even above eye level. So, when you're placing your plants around your house, as you consider light and air circulation and all that, you might also consider the aesthetic issue of whether the plant looks better placed low to the ground, or elevated. This is a really simple concept, I realize -- but I only recently discovered it. (The reason my "aerial" view of this cactus shows some unsightly brown areas is that I just re-potted it and I haven't quite "arranged" it correctly. I need to go buy a bigger pot.)
